- Psittacosis (Parrot Fever)
- SYMPTOMS may include dry coughing, malaise, loss of appetite, chills & fever.
- Coughing will change to sputum that is pus-laden.
- CAUSES. Bacterium Chalmydia psittaci (found mostly in parrots, lovebirds and
- parakeets) which produces a form of pneumonia. It is usually inhaled.
- TREATMENT. Antibiotics, medication for cough, bed rest and possibly oxygen
- prescribed.
