  1.                       Psittacosis (Parrot Fever)
  2. SYMPTOMS may include dry coughing, malaise, loss of appetite, chills & fever.
  3. Coughing will change to sputum that is pus-laden.
  4. CAUSES. Bacterium Chalmydia psittaci (found mostly in parrots, lovebirds and
  5. parakeets) which produces a form of pneumonia. It is usually inhaled.
  6. TREATMENT. Antibiotics, medication for cough, bed rest and possibly oxygen
  7.  prescribed.
